Due to construction of new multi storey car park ?. We were sent to a car park short distance away and had to find our own way to the terminal on foot. Long Stay Manchester Airport This was a pre-paid stay with car details submitted prior to arrival. On arrival the car wasn't recognised when we first pulled up to the vehicle recognition barrier. Once entry was gained it took 15 mins to find a vacant parking spot. On leaving the car wasn't recognised and the exit barrier wanted to charge us £320. (This was quickly sorted though by using the intercom). I would still recommend this though as it has worked for us well in the past and is obviously very handy for the airport terminals!!! They smashed my side passenger window and did damage externally and internally. There wasn't much worth stealing but what a nightmare return!? The Police had left a message to phone them on my return. They gave me a crime number and said the CCCTV cameras aren't the recording type and won't persevere getting footage from them?? Also the bus took so long to arrive from terminal one (we waited nearly 20 mins) that we decided to walk so we wasn’t late for our exit time and actually made it over before the bus did.so that could definitely be improved. The bus to terminal was prompt with a friendly driver. Our return flights from America were delayed via Heathrow, despite a delay, a 6 hour grace period after our booked time was permitted. The bus shelter became full some stood in the rain. When the next bus arrived it drove straight past us all. My wife and I were seated to the rear of the racks on the first elevated seating section and watched as passengers who were boarding were struggling to lift their cases up onto the higher level racks. One gentleman was unfortunate to have a case drop onto his head (the caster hitting the guys forehead) as the owner struggled to lift it onto the racks, he could be considered lucky that the injury was not of a more serious nature. The bus did not serve this area even though there was a stop.it was pouring with rain and we got wet through walking to the nearest stop. Your instructions re finding the (non evident?)signs for Europark need a major overhaul IMHO. They resulted in an almighty row with Mrs W who had them to hand. I had to resort to parking the car at the side of the road ( difficult!) and walking to ask an attendant ( thin on the ground at that time of the morning) after 3 trips around the roundabouts! During my holiday I was unsettled at my car not being recognized by your cameras on entry. Never again I had said before your nice man did his bit.
