1. Novotel

Birmingham Airport Novotel Hotel

Sitting in the number 1 spot is the Novotel. It’s the closest hotel to the terminal and provides 4-star convenience and comfort.

The room

Let us start by saying that, despite being directly opposite the terminal, you won’t have to worry about being kept up by all the airport hustle and bustle. The rooms have triple glazed windows and blackout curtains so you’ll be out like a light.

The rooms are spacious with a comfortable, queen bed and good-sized en-suite - you’ll have plenty of room to spread out and get comfy.

When it comes to decor, the Novotel keeps things neutral and modern, giving the room a fresh and bright feel.

You’ll have everything you could possibly need for a relaxing night in; flat screen TV with pay-per-view movies, free wifi, plenty of tea/coffee making facilities, and last but not least, room service. The room is also equipped with other less exciting but useful features including a large desk space, iron, laptop safe and hair dryer.

WiFi is free and fast in the rooms. In the communal areas there is a charge.

The hotel

The hotel has a very contemporary and welcoming feel throughout, which you’ll experience from the moment you step through the Novotel doors to the open lobby and check-in area. There’s even a porter to help take your luggage up to your room! Speaking of the staff, reviews consistently praise the “friendly and helpful” nature of the staff, which is a real bonus because we understand how customer service can really make or break a stay.

Living up to its 4-stars, the hotel’s facilities are top notch and there’s something for everyone. For the kids, there’s a play area equipped with video games which will keep them occupied for a few hours. For the fitness fanatics, there’s a small but well maintained fitness room equipped with a couple of cycling machines and a few weight machines. For those who fancy a healthy dose of pre-holiday relaxation, there’s the welcoming bar to enjoy.

Breakfast isn’t included in the price but if you do fancy grabbing something to eat before you fly, there’s a cooked English option (costing £16.45) or a continental option (costing £12.45).

What’s the restaurant like?

We’ve had a good look over what people have said about the food and overall it gets a thumbs up - there’s a great balance of local and international dishes but people have said that the dishes are a little on the more expensive side.

Parking

As one of our Birmingham airport hotels with parking and transfers, you can bundle your stay with secured off-site parking at Airparks. The room

The rooms are modern and inviting, with all the things you expect for an enjoyable stay including a comfy bed and practical bathroom with a power shower. It’s also a bit more spacious than your typical ‘budget hotel’ which is always a bonus.

Bursting with character, each room has welcoming pops of colour and bold, eye catching artwork to break up the white. Some of the decor, like a funky bear riding on a bicycle, might be a little ‘out there’, but one thing for sure it’s definitely a bit of fun.

You’ll find all your creature comforts; the rooms are equipped with a 32” TV, free wifi and plenty of tea/coffee making facilities.

Enjoy high speed wifi in your room and throughout the hotel.

The hotel

So, what makes this such a popular Birmingham airport hotel? Location. Situated within the same complex as the vibrant NEC Exhibition Centre, you’re just a 6 minute journey away from the airport. For many travellers, this more than makes up for the fact that there aren’t fancy facilities on-site like a pool or gym. The fresh and stylish Ibis Styles is perfect for holidaymakers prioritising convenience and value.

The friendly staff and open plan restaurant, bar and lounge create a warm and welcoming atmosphere throughout the hotel.

When it comes to food, enjoy a bistro-style dish at the relaxed Hub restaurant and afterwards treat yourself to your favourite tipple at the bar and lounge. Parking

The Ibis Styles is one of our most popular Birmingham airport hotels with parking and it’s easy to see why - you have a choice between two low-cost and ultra simple parking options.

Parking at the hotel

While you’re away your car will stay safely stored in the hotel’s car park, meaning you can put it to the back of your mind and switch over to holiday mode from the moment you check-in. Getting to the airport is quick and fuss-free; from the hotel, walk 5 minutes to the nearby train station, once there catch the free monorail into the terminal. The journey only takes 1 minute and it runs from 05:15 to 02:00.

You’ll be there in just 15 minutes and it’s included in the price.

So, what parking is best? Parking at the hotel is a much speedier process, but parking at Airparks has the edge on security as it’s equipped with features such as CCTV, patrols, entry/exit barriers, floodlighting, and fencing. There’s not much difference in price so it just comes down to what is at the top of your priority list.

6. Premier Inn

Birmingham Airport Premier Inn

The Premier Inn is one of our most affordable and family-friendly Birmingham airport hotels with parking.

The room

In a nutshell, the rooms are spacious, comfortable and clean with lots of purple (in true Premier Inn style).

You’ll find everything you could possibly need for a comfy stay; kingsize Hypnos bed, a choice of firm or soft pillows, blackout curtains, tea and coffee making facilities and, of course, all the entertainment necessities like freeview TV and free wifi.

Good to know: While a double room is standard, the hotel provides fantastic family and accessible rooms. If you’re looking to book a twin room, it’s worth taking into consideration that the rooms will feature a double or kingsize bed with a single sofa bed, not two singles.

Wifi is free, however some guests have said it can be a little slow and patchy so if you want to do more than check your email and general browsing, we would recommend upgrading to their faster, ‘Ultimate wifi’ for £5.

The hotel

It’s not surprising that the Premier Inn is a popular Birmingham airport hotel with travellers - it really is a great all rounder. From the modern, 3 star facilities and friendly staff to the super convenient location, it puts some more expensive hotels to shame. From the hotel, you’re just over 1 mile away from the airport, and 2 miles from the NEC - talk about being in a prime position.

The Thyme restaurant on-site serves up classic British favourites from gourmet burgers to salads in a relaxed and stylish setting. They also have a brilliant Meal Deal to help stretch your holiday budget further - enjoy a cooked breakfast, plus a 2 course dinner and a selected drink for just £23.99. The Thyme restaurant gets mixed reviews - the choice and value are top notch but the service is know to be on the slow side.

Premier Inn offers a “Full Breakfast” which includes unlimited cooked and continental options for just £8.99. If you’re travelling with the kids in tow, it will be music to your ears to hear that up to two under 16s eat breakfast for free when one adult orders the breakfast

Parking

To keep your Birmingham airport hotel and parking costs down to a minimum, pair your overnight stay with parking at Airparks. Not only is parking at Airparks low-cost, it also boasts top notch security features and a stress-free process. You’ll need to park overnight at the hotel which will cost £8. Enjoy your usual TV and tea and coffee for a quiet night in. There’s also wifi but it’s only free for 30 minutes, so if you see yourself winding down for the evening with a film or programme on Netflix, you’ll want to pay the extra £3 to extend your access for 24 hours.

Wifi is free for 30 minutes - ideal if you want to quickly catch up on emails or check flight information. For 24 hour access you'll need to pay £3.

The hotel

The Travelodge, Birmingham is located just a couple of miles from the airport, with a number of rooms boasting runway views, making this an ideal pre or post flight stopover. As well as being in close proximity to the terminal, it’s incredible value for money and family friendly.

It’s not fine dining but if you’re happy with pub grub, you should find something you’ll enjoy. There’s also some pretty awesome meal deals on offer - tuck into 2 courses and enjoy a drink for just £13.25, and for the kids they can choose 3 courses and a drink for just over a fiver!

8. Arden Hotel

Birmingham Airport Ibis Styles

Think more spa resort than airport hotel with the Arden Hotel and Leisure Club. Make the most of the pool, sauna and gym on-site while being just 5 minutes from the airport.

The room

The rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable with everything you need for a pleasant stay including a roomy en-suite with powerful shower and a TV and wifi for entertainment.

When it comes to decor, the rooms are a little dated and tired, so if a modern room is more your cup of tea, you might prefer one of the other Birmingham airport hotels on this list. But if you’re simply looking for a comfy place to rest your head for the night, this will do the trick.

Standard double rooms come with welcoming features such as a flat screen TV, free wifi, plenty of tea and coffee making facilities, handy trouser press and hair dryer and, of course, a lovely king size bed.

Rooms have free wifi access, however some guests have said it can be a little patchy and slow, so might not be the best choice for business travellers or for those who love to browse and stream

The hotel

Located just a 5 minute drive away from Birmingham airport and just half a mile away from the NEC, the Arden is perfectly positioned to get your holiday off to a flying start.

For some pre or post-holiday pampering and entertainment, the on-site leisure club is a must. Work up a sweat in the well-equipped gym, take a dip in the pool and jacuzzi and when it’s time for a bit of relaxation there’s the sauna and steam room. They also have two full-size snooker and pool tables - why not unwind for the evening by playing a game or two over drinks?

For dinner, you have two choices: the formal Burgundy restaurant or the relaxed Meet Place. If you’re a self-confessed foodie, we recommend making a beeline to the restaurant, where you’ll be able to enjoy expertly crafted dishes off the a la carte or table d’hote menu. If you’re looking for simple and tasty, pub-style dishes, in a laid back environment, we would recommend The Meet Place.

Remember: breakfast isn’t included in this package. A cooked buffet breakfast is available for £12 from 7am and if you’ve got an early flight you can order a continental breakfast delivered to your room from 4am.

Parking

There are two parking options that can be paired with this Birmingham airport hotel: parking at the hotel or Meet and Greet parking.

Parking at the hotel

Your car will stay tucked away in the hotel’s car park for the whole time you’re away, meaning you don’t have to worry about moving your car on the morning of your flight. To get to the airport, you’ll need to walk to the nearby train station, which is a 10-15 minute walk away from the hotel. From here, catch the free monorail straight into Departures - it only takes 1 minute! Alternatively, you can order a taxi from the hotel reception - the journey takes 5 minutes and costs £6.

Meet and Greet parking

If you'd prefer to avoid parking and transfers altogether, then we would recommend Meet and Greet parking. After checking out, simply drive to the airport and park up outside the terminal, where you will be met by a uniformed attendant. They’ll take your vehicle to a secure holding site, and return to the same spot on your return. For convenient, fuss-free parking look no further.
